Code of conduct.
A welcoming festival for filmmakers, audiences, staff, and partners alike.
Our commitment
The Iowa African Film Festival celebrates African and diaspora storytelling in a spirit of openness and respect. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and harassment-free experience for everyone — regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or background.
We expect everyone to
- — Treat fellow attendees, filmmakers, volunteers, and staff with courtesy and respect.
- — Engage with films and conversations in good faith, even when perspectives differ.
- — Respect venue rules, screening etiquette, and the directions of festival staff.
- — Respect filmmakers' work: no unauthorised recording or distribution of screenings.
We will not tolerate
- — Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- — Unwelcome attention, threats, or abusive language or behaviour.
- — Disruption of screenings, panels, or events.
